Beloved

Beloved

Beloved......This is a hard word for me. Yesterday was Valentine's Day, a day for lovers. Hard for me because my beloved is in heaven now. Last year, my first Valentine's day with out him, was hard in a different way, everything was still new so the hurt was much more raw. This year, it was different, I grieved the little things. My honey was a romantic at heart and always picked the most beautiful cards and wrote me beautiful lines of love. I miss that.

The other thing that was hard was that I wanted to express my sorrow, but didn't want to be a downer for others. How do I express myself without looking like I'm asking for sympathy? A simple heart on my honey's still active Facebook page was what I chose.

My son and I also made it a special day with a Dairy Queen date! My evening ended with suprise flowers and chocolates from an amazing couple at my church. God showed me I was HIS beloved and He sees my heart and He knew I needed a little extra love yesterday.

  1. Vicki, I couldn't imagine this sadness on a day created for lovers. The small heart on his FB profile made my eyes overflow for you... glad that you got some time with your boy and that sweet couple from church loved on you too! Visiting from FMF!

  4. I loved that your church family provided flowers and good wishes. How thoughtful.
You know... my husband passed away 6 six years ago and since have dated and fell in love with an old friend. This new man in my life taught me what Valentine's Day was really all about. He dropped me 2 years ago and I have yet to recover. No one realizes how upsetting Valentine's Day is to a lot of us. So... I bake cakes and eat my way through it... with friends and family.

  6. Vicki, it really blessed me to read of your church family remembering your sorrow and bringing you gifts. I think of you each time I see your blog on my sidebar, and I pray. I put it there to remember that here is one of God's precious children, hurting. And it's always such a blessing to visit here! I see through your words how He is providing spiritually, and I pray many more people will remember your sorrow and become Jesus in the flesh. I would never assume you were looking for sympathy...keep on expressing. Love to you this weekend!
